What Do We Know About Lady Louise Windsor?

Happy 15th birthday to the Lady Louise Windsor, the young royal of the UK. She is the eldest daughter of Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex, and the 13th in line for the throne as the Queen’s youngest granddaughter. Recently, she played a role at Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s wedding, where she acted as a special attendant. She looked lovely in blue while helping little bridesmaids and pageboys at the St. George’s Chapel.

Seven years ago, she was a bridesmaid at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding. At only, eight years, she looked adorable in a white dress as she joined her family on the famous balcony of the Buckingham Palace. Lady Louise prefers to stay out of the spotlights with her younger brother James. Countess of Wessex had this to say about giving her children a normal childhood, away from the media: “Certainly when they were very young we tried to keep them out of it. Only because for their sakes, to grow up as normally as possible we felt was quite important. And they’re going to have to go out and get a job and earn a living later on in life and if they’ve had a normal a start in life they possibly can get, then hopefully that will stand them in good stead.”

Louise was born prematurely via Caesarean section, and suffered from exotropia, a condition that turns the eyes outwards. She is able to see normally now following various different operations. “Premature babies can often have squints because the eyes are the last thing in the baby package to really be finalized. Her squint was quite profound when she was tiny and it takes time to correct it. You’ve got to make sure one eye doesn’t become more dominant than the other but she’s fine now – her eyesight is perfect,” said her mother.

Two years ago, Sophie recalled the moment when Louise realized that her grandmother is no less than the current Queen of the United Kingdom. In an interview with the BBC, she explained how her children acknowledge their grandma is a highly important and recognized public figure. “It happened a little while ago. Well for Louise, actually, it was much more of a shock to the system. It was only when she was coming home from school and saying, ‘Mummy, people keep on telling me that grandma is the queen.’ And I asked her, ‘Yes, how does that make you feel? And she said, ‘I don’t understand.'” She added: “I don’t think she had grasped that perhaps there was only one queen.”, said the proud mom.

Like her grandmother, Lady Louise is a big fan of horseback riding. She is often seen showing off her skills, as well as competing in the British Driving Society Championship for Young Drivers. Prince Philip, her grandfather, was instrumental in the overall development of carriage driving. He has represented Britain in three European championships and six world championships during his time. An impressive feat indeed. We are looking forward to similar life accomplishments of the young princess, as she surely has a lot of potential!
